    Bergen County Sells Its 10 Most Expensive Homes Ever, After Recording 168 Major Sales In A Single Week

    As of the first week of March, Bergen County sold its most expensive house ever at a whopping $4.5 million. The property is a piece of residential real estate located in Saddle River.

    That same week, Bergen recorded 168 real estate transactions in the residential niche, a probable indicator of homeowners’ influx into the area.

    County-wide Averages of Residential Home Value  

    Sampling the sales price of the recent home sales, analysts found that the March sales of Bergen residential homes came at an average rate of $787,837. That figure translates to $382 per square foot of a Bergen living space.

    Hereafter is an ordered list of real estate transactions for which Bergen County issued title deeds on February 26. Some had been purchased a bit earlier. 

    10: 145 Canterbury Drive  

    A building at 145 Canterbury Drive, Ramsey, sold for $1.6 million. The property is residential and was developed for single-family occupation.

    The developer of the Ramsey property completed it in 2005. However, the new owners moved in this January after finalizing the deal on January 18. Regarding the unit cost of the living space, analysts say the price of the house averages $374 per square foot.

    9: 834 Hillcrest Road 

    The next property is located at 834 Hillcrest Road, Ridgewood. It is a well-maintained classic that was originally completed in 1928.

    Like the Ramsey property, the transfer of ownership for the Hillcrest single-family house was finalized on January 18. This house sold for $1,625,000, with a unit price of $522 per square foot.

    8: 467 Upper Boulevard  

    A 1939 home at 467 Upper Boulevard also sold for $1,625,000, and its deed was penned on January 18.

    This house is also a single-family property with a unit price of $588 per square foot. The living area of the Upper Boulevard house is 2764 square feet.

    7: 183 Cleenput Terrace   

    The single-family residential building at 183 Cleenput Terrace, Paramus, was snatched off the market in January.

    The house sits on a 1,672-square-foot living space and was constructed in 1953. The Cleenput house sold for $1,900,000 at $1,136 per square foot. The deed was penned on January 12.  

    6: 516 Old Post Road    

    The next house is located at 516 Old Post Road, Wyckoff. It is another single-family house that sold for $1,905,000 in January.

    This house is 27 years valuable and sits atop a space of 3,690 square feet. By implication, the Old Post house sold at a rate of $516 per square foot, and the transaction was finalized on January 16.

    5: 84 Orangeburgh Road     

    The agreement for the single-family residence at 84 Orangeburgh Road, Old Tappan, was signed on January 18.

    The 2019 house sold for $2,075,000. The Orangeburgh property has a living space of about 4,725 square feet and a unit price of $439 per square foot. 

    4: 387 Cedar Hill Avenue  

    The next deal was finalized at the close of last year, December 29 specifically. The single-family residence is located at 387 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff.

    The developers completed the initial construction of this property in 2007. The deal was sealed with a sum of $2,175,000. The living area sits on top of 5,400 square feet, bringing the unit price to $403 per square foot.

    3: 16 Holmhill Circle  

    16 Holmhill Circle, Franklin Lakes, is home to the next property on our list. Equally a single-family residential building, its transfer of ownership was finalized on January 17.

    The Holmhill Circle property is only four years old and sold for $2,799,000 in January. The living area is 5,792 square feet, and if divided into square-foot portions, each would sell for $483.

    2: 140 Devon Road  

    The second-most expensive sale of a Bergen residential property was for a whopping $3,067,500. The single-family house is located at 140 Devon Road, Tenafly.

    The 1958 house sprawls across a living space of 5,275 square feet. That brings the unit price of the property to $582 per square foot. The new owners ratified the deal on January 18. 

    1: 23 Elden Drive 

    By far the most expensive residential property sale in Bergen County, this $4,450,000 comes first.

    The 8,802-square-foot house sits on a lot at 23 Elden Drive. The transfer of ownership of this 18-year-old house was finalized on January 12. This property cost the new owners $506 per square foot based on its price and size.
