Walmart Teams Up with Major Food Chain to Provide Free Food

Walmart free food will be available to its Walmart+ members. Walmart has formed a new partnership with Burger King to offer special deals for customers of its subscription program. As part of this membership, members of the $98-a-year subscription service will get a $25 discount on all Burger King orders. They will also get a free Whopper every three months.

Walmart Free Food: What Is It About?

Walmart’s free food program is a product of its partnership with Burger King. The partnership is part of an effort to compete with Amazon Prime, which charges $139 annually. It is seen as a challenge to Amazon because Amazon also offers its own food-related benefits through its partnership with GrubHub.

Like Amazon, Walmart+ offers benefits like free shipping and same-day grocery delivery, but at a lower price. However, Walmart still has fewer subscribers, about 29 million, than Amazon’s 184 million. The retail company hopes to attract more subscribers with the new partnership and Walmart’s free meals.

Why Is Walmart Partnering With Burger King?

The partnership between Walmart and Burger King also occurred because Burger King wants to attract more customers. The fast-food chain has been experiencing low demand due to increased food prices, while Walmart has been making solid sales figures.

This shows that the company is doing well despite the inflation concerns in the economy. Walmart’s stock has risen by more than 30%  this year. On the contrary, major fast food chains like McDonald’s have seen a significant decline in profits due to slow demand after the prices of their products increased.

Some fast-food chains offer cheaper deals because of challenges. For example, Burger King and McDonald’s introduced a $5 value meal to boost sales. Starbucks also entered the competition by introducing a 5% breakfast combo. Burger King went the extra step to partner with Walmart to deal with the low demand problem.

Walmart described the deal as a way to save its members time and money. The free Whopper deal will start in September, but the 25% discount is already available. For customers to access the perks of the partnership, Walmart members need to link their Walmart account with a free Burger King Royal Perks Profile, place orders through the Burger King app, and enjoy their free dining benefits.

What Is Walmart’s Food Brand Called?

Walmart’s leading food brand is Great Value. Walmart’s Great Value offers various groceries, such as pantry items, dairy products, frozen foods, snacks, and more.

These products are usually sold at prices that customers can easily afford. Great Value products are meant to give customers good quality products at a lower cost than what other well-known brands offer.

How Does Walmart Get Its Food?

Walmart sources the food it sells through several methods to ensure a supply of quality products at affordable and competitive prices. Walmart works directly with farmers, food producers, and manufacturers, enabling them to access fresh produce like meat, vegetables, dairy, and other items and also sell them at lower prices. The food it offers under its brands, such as Great Value and Marketside, is produced by various suppliers.

To meet consumers’ various needs and demands, Walmart sources its food globally and locally. It does this by partnering with international suppliers for specific items and working with local farmers and producers to provide fresh food made locally.

Walmart relies on a network of distribution centers that get fresh food from suppliers, store it, and distribute it to individual stores, ensuring that the products stay fresh by the time they reach the shelves. These processes enable the retail company to maintain a wide range of healthy food at affordable prices without compromising quality.

Walmart’s partnership with Burger King gives customers free food. Burger King produces the food, and when a Walmart+ member makes an order, they get a 25% discount. Customers also get a free meal courtesy of the partnership.

How Many Food Items Does Walmart Have?

Walmart offers a wide selection of food items across its online platforms and stores. The exact number of food items the retail company offers can vary depending on the location and size of the store. Each store’s wide variety of products includes fresh farm produce like meat and dairy products, frozen foods, packaged goods, snacks, and beverages that can be numbered in their thousands.

Large Walmart supercenters carry about 30,000 to 50,000 food items. The selection of food at each store is usually updated, depending on customers’ demands, seasonal availability, and the introduction of new products.

Walmart’s latest collaboration with Burger King has also added new items to the food customers can get at Walmart or with a membership card. For instance, some customers can get free food from Walmart when they buy from Burger King.

Walmart gets its products from various suppliers. Some suppliers are major national company brands, and others are smaller. These companies include Coca-Cola, Unilever, General Mills, and Procter & Gamble. It also partners with local farmers and producers, like Taylor Farms, for fresh farm produce.
