Zeekr, a famous Chinese EV maker, has announced its Golden Battery, which is set to rival Tesla and all other electric vehicle companies in the world. This new battery outpaces several other automakers as it can charge from 10 to 80% in 10.5 minutes.
This superfast charging can also power the vehicle for at least 310 miles after the supercharging takes place.
What Is the New EV Battery Developed by China?
A Chinese electric car brand called Zeekr has announced that its new batteries have been developed in the country. According to its official statement, the brand boasts that it now has the electric vehicle with the fastest charge in the entire world.
Since there have been recurring customer complaints and worries about the battery driving range and the ease of charging electric vehicles, the electric car brand is open to combat this problem by introducing this super fast charging battery.
The New EV Fast Charging Upgrade
Customers around the world are quite surprised by how fast the company says the battery charges. According to Zeekr, in just 10.5 minutes, the battery will go from 10% to 80% if the customer charges at the ultra-fast charging stations.
What’s more, this is not limited to just average weather conditions, as the company also noted that in 10°C or 14°F weather, it will have the same performance, but it will take about 30 minutes.
The New EV Battery
The company’s new battery is known as the Golden Battery. It is a lithium-ion-phosphate unit that supports 800 Volts ultra-fast charging. Thanks to the high voltage, it can provide more energy and a higher charging capacity, which enhances overall performance and efficiency.
This gold battery can power a car for at least 310 miles with just 10.5 minutes of charging. If it is charged to the fullest, it can power a car for an impressive 423 miles.

The EV Company
Zeekr is a subsidiary of Geely, a very popular Chinese automaker. The same company owns Volvo, Lotus, and London EV, which manufactures the British capital’s black taxicabs. The company is a pioneer in its field, pushing innovation to its peak.
Several reports indicate that the company has also partnered with UBTech, a Chinese robot-making company, to deploy a humanoid robot to its factory that could be trained in the auto industry to help in productivity and testing.
Comparing Tesla and the New EV Battery
Unlike Zeekr’s new battery, Elon Musk’s Tesla supercharger only charges the vehicle to run for 200 miles in 15 minutes. This is relatively low compared to the 310 miles this Golden Battery can give in just 10.5 minutes. In addition, the Tesla supercharger does not consider extremely bad weather conditions, while the Golden Battery can charge in less time in extreme temperatures.
Therefore, Zeekr is a massive competition to Tesla at a time when people are looking for the fastest-charging electric vehicles.
Nio’s Battery Replacement Option
Other electric vehicle makers are also devising innovative ways to ensure their customers get the fastest charging batteries. For example, Nio, a Chinese automaker giant, offers a different way to fully charge batteries in just three minutes.
The company developed a subscription at some of its charging stations where a customer can get their batteries swapped out with fully charged ones for some specific models of their cars.
Deliveries Roll Out Soon
The first model to use these golden batteries will be the 2025 007 sedan, which will start its delivery rollout next week. At the time of the announcement, the company had already opened more than 500 ultra-fast charging stations in China and hoped to double that number by the end of the year.
By 2026, Zeekr plans to operate more than 10,000 ultra-fast charging stations. This is a great marketing point, as people will now have easy access to the stations and will be more inclined to purchase an EV from the company.
The Impact of This EV Battery
Zeekr hired 1000 engineers to work on this new technology battery for a period of three years, which dispense developing the golden battery and perfecting its use. This is part of its plan to increase its customer base and patronage, thereby increasing sales for the company.
However, the past three years have not been without setbacks for the company. Despite a 50% drop in its stock value, it is still looking to deliver about 230,000 vehicles this year and compete vigorously with Tesla.
Zeekr Delivered a Record Number of Cars in June
Zeekr is also a U.S.-listed Chinese electric car company. In June this year, it delivered a record number of electric cars and pushed for an increase in its fleet. Reports show that for the first half of the year, Zeekr ranked as the largest electric vehicle-only selling company with the highest deliveries.
However, there was a bit of a bump at the beginning of the second quarter. The company’s deliveries fell slightly in July, but the numbers are set to improve with this new invention that will go out in August.

Why Do Teslas Charge Faster Than Other EVs?
Before the announcement of these golden batteries, Tesla was the EV brand that charged faster than its competitors. This is because Tesla has its own network of supercharging stations that are strictly exclusive to Tesla owners.
These high-powered Level 3 charging stations charge up batteries very quickly compared to other charging options. A Tesla can be fully charged at the supercharging station in just 90 minutes.
Does Fast Charging Damage an EV Battery?
Fast charging an electric vehicle’s battery usually does not negatively affect battery life. However, consistent and regular rapid/supercharging (between 7kW and 22kW) can damage the batteries. Therefore, experts advise using fast charging only for everyday needs.
Rapid charging, which is the fastest charging method, should be used when absolutely needed, and that should not be your only method of charging your EV.
What Type of Battery Is in the Tesla China?
Tesla uses lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries that come in different sizes and compositions. Batteries use energy technology, which helps the cars move around efficiently. Tesla heavily relies on Chinese manufacturing companies to supply these batteries in large quantities for its electric vehicles.
Today, Elon Musk Tesla is arguably the most famous EV company in the world, but Zeekr is about to give it a run for its money.
