Costco is about to open six new stores in the U.S. The big warehouse-style store will have more than 900 locations worldwide. It will reach this milestone by early March.
In December 2024, the retailer, which is based in Issaquah, Washington, shared its plan for 2025. The company announced that it plans to open 29 new stores during its 2025 fiscal year, which will run until August 31, 2025. Six of the 29 new stores will open in the U.S. next month.
Costco presently has 897 stores, 617 of which are in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. With the stores opening in the six new U.S. locations, the total number of Costco stores will increase to 903.
Apart from the locations in the U.S., Costco also has stores in many other parts of the world. In Canada, the company has 109 locations. Mexico has 41 locations, Japan has 36, and the U.K. has 29. There are 19 store locations in Korea, 15 in Australia, 14 in Taiwan, 7 in China, 5 in Spain, and 2 locations in France. There is also one Costco location each in Iceland, New Zealand, and Sweden.
The New Costco Stores Opening in the U.S.
The opening dates for most of the new stores in the U.S. are listed on Costco’s website. However, the date for the latest store in Genesee County, Michigan, was mentioned in the news.
Costco gave a statement to USA TODAY. The company mentioned that it does not usually share exact opening dates. They do this because things like construction delays, city rules, or other unexpected issues could change when a store actually opens.
The following are the six new Costco warehouses that will be opened in March 2025. It also includes when they will be open:
- Sharon, Massachusetts – March 1
- Brentwood, California – March 7
- Highland, California – March 8
- Genesee County, Michigan – March 13
- Prosper, Texas – March 14
- Weatherford, Texas – March 15

New Costco Locations To Be Opened in April
Costco is also planning to open three new stores across the world in the following weeks after March. One will be located in Stuart, Florida, another in Minami Alps, Japan, and the last one in Ardeer, Australia. The first two stores will open in April 2025, while the Australian store will open much later.
As the retail giant keeps growing, its sales keep increasing. In the first 22 weeks of its financial year, which started September 2, 2024, Costco made $113.55 billion in net sales. This amount is 8.2% more than what it made the previous year. Generally, sales in the U.S. went up by 6.6% during this time. It increased due to the busy holiday shopping season. In the four weeks that led up to February 2, sales in the United States increased by 9.2%
Costco is set to announce its financial results for the second fiscal quarter of 2025 on March 6. However, experts already have their expectations. Analysts polled by S&P Global Market Intelligence predict that the company will report about $63 billion in revenue. They also expect a net income of $1.8 billion. This would be a 4.5% increase compared to what the retail giant made last year.

The Cost of Costco Membership
A yearly Costco membership costs $65. This amount is for those with the United States and Canada Gold Star membership. The price is different for an Executive membership. This special membership comes with extra benefits, and it costs $130.
The extra benefits include a 2% reward (up to a maximum of $1,250) on the amount each member spends at Costco in a year and a discount on certain services. Costco increased its membership prices in September 2024; it was the first time it had done so since 2017.
