The best jobs of the year are often those that require possessing professional skills. More often than not, these in-demand professions are the highest-paying jobs you’ll find around. So, we have compiled the top careers with the potential of earning the most money in 2025.

The opinions being expressed in this piece are not just whipped-up fables or suppositions. Instead, this list of the best jobs of the year is an offshoot of a recent study by researchers at Ladder, Inc. The study analyzed data polled from over half a million job postings. The goal was to identify the highest-paying jobs with the most openings in 2025.

The Ladder study used data to select the top 10 career opportunities. All these jobs pay $250,000 or more, and some offer remote work options. Now, let’s examine these job market trends and career opportunities.

    10. Endodontist

An endodontist is a specialized dentist with several years of experience and extra training. This specialty is in demand and one of the highest-paying jobs.

An endodontist earns between $177,155 and $223,074. These folks are largely in high demand due to their specialization. Diagnoses come easy to endodontists, and they are experts in oral health issues that are on the extreme spectrum of pain.

    9. Veterinarian Radiologist

Veterinarian radiologists specialize in diagnostic imaging of ailing animals, meaning their service is a precursor to substantive treatment. Ladder’s data suggests that veterinarian radiologists are among the highest-paid jobs in the animal care industry. They often receive even better pay than relief veterinarians. Most vet radiologists receive between $160,000 and $287,000.

    8. Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

CFOs steer an organization’s financial boat. While most corporate entities cannot operate without the appropriate financial stimulus, the CFO ensures that funding sources or profits align with the organization’s mission and values.

Most people seeking career opportunities and employment growth in finance strive to attain the revered status of CFO. Job satisfaction could be very high, too, for organizations that allow remote work for this role. The average CFO earns between $338,460 and $579,170.

    7. Outside Sales Representative

The outside sales representative spends more time in the field than they do behind a desk. They do the legwork for the face-to-face PR of a company, which explains why they’re one of the in-demand professions. So, as you can imagine, the remote work option goes right out the window for this role.

Outside sales representatives make between $90,837 and $122,100 in basic salary. However, high-performing reps may earn much more than the quoted figures because this role is highly incentivized. This is due to bonuses and commissions and depends on the type of product being sold.

    6. Principal Software Engineer

In addition to making the list of top careers in the Ladder study, the Bureau of Labor Statistics affirms that Principal Software Engineers will experience a 17% increase in employment growth by 2033.

These techies will receive between $119,330 and $142,720 for their professional skills.

    5. Psychiatrist

Job market trends show that psychiatrists are always in high demand. Victims of work-life balance crises and unemployment are some of the typical patients these professionals attend to.

Summarily, psychiatrists diagnose and treat individuals with mental and emotional health disorders. The expertise required in this job description does not come for free. Psychiatrists pocket about $242,200 to $296,040 annually.

    4. Dentist

Endodontists are already on this list of top career opportunities for 2025. However, the Ladder study also suggests that dentistry is one of the 10 best jobs of the year. Job market trends indicate that oral health professionals of all shapes and sizes are always in high demand.

For their trouble treating oral health issues and educating patients, dentists receive an annual pay of between $175,290 and $220,860.

    3. Medical Director

Healthcare facilities require more than just a medical degree to manage effectively. A medical director is basically an administrator with years of experience in medical practice.

Professionals with the described skillset are in high demand, and private practices sometimes compromise on making the role fully on-site. So, to attract the best medical directors, some healthcare facilities offer incentives for work-life balance, like hybrid work mode. Medical directors receive between $302,480 and $363,210 annually for their efforts.

    2. Solar Sales Representative

The green energy bug is going viral, and many public and private entities are adopting alternative and sustainable energy sources like solar. Thus, the emergence of this relatively new industry has led to employment growth for sales reps.

These folks pitch and sell solar-related accessories and equipment. The remote work option, which involves cold-calling clients, can increase job satisfaction for this role. However, some solar companies insist on making the role hybrid. Solar sales reps receive between $90,505 and $121,500.

    Physician

Physicians are among the 10 best jobs of the year. Although they may not receive the highest remuneration on this list, they will be in high demand by 2025.

The Ladder suggests that there are way more physician jobs on work boards than any other role. The average salary of physicians is between $171,280 and $282,490.

The Ladder study suggests that the 10 roles above will be highly demanded, as they are high-paying jobs. These attributes qualify them for the best job of the year description.
